Eliminating the clutter: Entergy continues project to clean up city power poles

NATCHEZ — Entergy contractor crews worked Wednesday to replace a leaning power pole on the corner of Franklin and Martin Luther King Jr. streets as part of the company’s ongoing project with the city to eliminate pole and wire clutter.
Natchez Entergy Customer Service Manager Tim Runnels said the leaning pole on Franklin and Martin Luther King Jr. was one Mayor Butch Brown indicated he would like replaced.
The company also replaced a leaning pole near the fire station on Martin Luther King Jr. Street a month ago.
Runnels said Entergy plans to soon remove or replace six or seven poles north of Cock of the Walk on the bluff.
Entergy has been continually working on eliminating clutter of poles and wires since first approached by Brown about the project several months ago.
