NATCHEZ — The George W. Armstrong Library is offering assistance Friday to residents who need to download and print tax forms.

Library Director Susan Cassagne said the library is providing the help Friday because it is federal Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day.

Entergy has provided a grant that Cassagne said the library will use in conjunction with the AARP Tax Aide Program to allow people to print tax forms from a library computer at a reduced price of 10 cents per page.

Cassagne said the state no longer mails tax forms to individuals as a cost saving measure.

Paper copies of tax forms will also be available at the library.

The earned income tax credit is a refundable federal income tax credit for low- to moderate-income individuals and families.

Certain requirements must be met to qualify for the tax credit, and a tax return must be filed even if no taxes are owed.

Library staff will provide information on the tax credit and forms through April 15, Cassagne said, but she said the staff members are not qualified tax experts and cannot help a resident file taxes.

The library is located at 220 S. Commerce St.
