Governor Earls

UNION CHURCH — Services for Governor Earls, 76, of Union Church, who died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Select Specialty in Jackson, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Block United Methodist Church with the Rev. Burnell Newsome officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Earls was born Aug. 12, 1932, in Union Church, the son of Birmingham and Letholia Earls.
He was retired from Woodland For Paper Company. He confessed Christ at an early age and jooined the Hickory Block U.M.C. Church where he served as a deacon faithfully. He was a member of Crossroads Lodge #433 Redlick and was married to Bessie Lee O’Quinn.
Mr. Earls was preceded in death by his wife; two children, Bobby Ray Earls and Darlene Earls; four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include three children, Ruby Harris and husband, Bobby, both of Jackson, James Earls and wife, Patricia, both of Houma, La. and Claude Earls of Union Church; two sisters, Nancy Rogers and Katie Earls, both of Detroit; one brother, Birmingham Earls Jr. and wife, Jean, both of Port Gibson; two aunts, Alberta Anderson and M.E. Belton, both of Fayette; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandsons; special friend, Elton “Bo” Burnett of Fayette; and a number of nieces and nephews.
