NATCHEZ — Services for Miriam Daffan Loe, 86, of Natchez, who died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. John W. Larson officiating.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Pineville, La., under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at Laird Funeral Home Union Street.

Mrs. Loe was born Oct. 26, 1922 in Woodworth, La., the daughter of Carl Sanford Daffan and Johnnie Pugh Daffan.

She was a chemistry major at Louisiana College, an accomplished pianist and a commercial pilot, who as a member of the Ninety-Nines women’s pilot organization served as an officer at different levels in the organization and flew to Alaska to the Ninety-Nine International meeting in August 1984. In her early years as a resident of Natchez, she was active in the Little Theater, the Natchez Garden Club and in the Community Concert Association, in which she served as president for two years. She loved gardening.

She was a faithful homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Loe was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Justin Bunyan Loe, M.D.

Survivors include four sons, Justin Berwyn Loe and wife, Carol Deming Loe, of Frisco, Texas, Robert Gary Loe and wife, Linda Sims Loe,, both of Granite Falls, N.C., Ralph Douglas Loe of Natchez and Roy Murray Loe of Houston; five grandchildren, Emily Loe Bennett and husband James Bartley Bennett, of Denton, Texas, Stephen Gary Loe, Robert Christopher Loe, Lauren Elizabeth Loe and Justin Richard Oliver Loe, all of Granite Falls; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Brandon Bennett of Denton, Memphis Flint Loe and Timber Ainsley Loe, both of Granite Falls.

The family prefers memorials be made either to the Cathedral School Development Fund or to the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society.
