NATCHEZ – Memorial services for Doris Evelyn Lonigro, 86, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Crown Health and Rehab, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Basilica with Father Leopold officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Lonigro donated her body to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for research.
Mrs. Lonigro was born March 11, 1923, in Montgomery, La., the daughter of Daniel and Ella Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lonigro; parents; one sister, Bertha Stroud; three brothers, Gene, Arles and Alton Thompson.
Survivors include children, JoElla Finley and John Mason, Annie Braning and husband, Ancil, Mike Lonigro and wife, Debbie; seven grandchildren, Carol Anne Marshall and husband, Duane, John Finley, Lee Yelverton and wife, Ashley, Jeanne Smith and husband, Stevie, Jason Yelverton and wife, Michelle, Jordan Thorne, Micah Lonigro; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Tommie Thompson and Dubie Skains; one niece, Opal Garner; one nephew, Gene Thompson and wife, Anne; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Searcy and Jean Lonigro; and a large extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cathedral School, St. Mary Basilica, American Heart Association or the American Cancer Association.
