SUMMIT — Services for Peggy Sue Wilkinson Carter, 57, of McComb, who died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at University Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Summit with the Rev. Larry LeBlanc officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time today at the church.
Ms. Carter was born March 19, 1952, in Centreville, the daughter of Jim and Oleta Rodgers Wilkinson Burcham.
Ms. Carter was a devoted mother, grandmother (Sue Sue), daughter, sister and friend. She was involved in every aspect of her children’s lives. Her generosity and thoughtfulness were felt by many, many people. She always put others before herself. She enjoyed cheering on her children and family in sporting events. She was a dedicated employee of BC Rogers, which later became Koch Foods, for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church Summit.
She was preceded in death by her father; and stepfather, Enis Burcham.
Survivors include her mother; one son, Casey Boyd Carter and wife, Rebecca, of Ellisville; one daughter, Melissa Jo Carter of Monroe, La.; five sisters, Hulda McKey, Julia Wells and husband, Hebert, Jimmie McKey and husband, Dane, all of Woodville, Nancy Jo Dennard and husband, Larry, of Slaughter, La., and Frances Sesser and husband, Nolan, of Natchez; one granddaughter, Lillian Olivia Carter; a number of nieces and nephews; and close friends, Jim and Ruth Brock and family and Doug and Judy Touchstone and family.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Jackson, Brian Brock, Justin Johnston, Cass Coon, Josh Bass, David Clements, Bradley Rawls and Justin Edwards.
Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Johnson, Jay Johnson, Joshua Kurykendall, Boo McKey, Gus McKey, Chase McKey, James McKey, David Sesser and Jim Sesser.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Summit “Building Fund,” P.O. Box 100, Summit, MS 39666.
