Horace Cole

CLINTON — Services for Horace Mark Cole, 84, of Clinton, who died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton with Dr. Greg Belser of Morrison Heights Baptist Church officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, both at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Reeves Family Cemetery in Pike County with the Rev. Tommy Shumate officiating.
Mr. Cole was born April 6, 1925, in McComb, the fifth child of John Walter Cole and Emma Edith Page Cole. In 1943, Mr. Cole graduated from McComb High School where he excelled on the debate team. He achieved the Eagle Scout designation. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served three years as a pharmacist mate during World War II. Following his military service, he began his 39 year career with Mississippi Power & Light Company where he retired as the safety director. Until recently, he enjoyed operating his own small electrical business.
As a faithful member of Baptist churches in McComb, Greenville, Natchez and Clinton, he taught junior high boys in Sunday School for 25 years and participated in the choir. His many pleasures were fishing, spending time with friends, gardening and inventing unique items. He enjoyed 63 years with Ina, the love of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Benjamin, Johnnie and Robert Cole; and one sister, Doris Cole Newton.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Ina Faye Cothern Cole; two daughters, Linda Cole Ogden and husband, Page, of Natchez and Edith Cole Breithaupt and husband, Charlie, of Petal; four granddaughters, Vanessa O. Graham, Valerie O. Seal, Natalie and Leigh Breithaupt; one grandson, Eric Breithaupt; and three great-grandchildren, Hayden Page Seal, Olivia Graham and Bennett Graham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Morrison Heights Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
