FERRIDAY — Services for Annie Laura Parker, 71, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rufus Baptist Church in Ferriday with Dr. Michael Reed officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Monroe, La.

Visitation will be from noon until service time at the church.

Ms. Parker was born Sept. 8, 1941, in Waterproof, the daughter and third child of Tom and Helen Cubie Parker.

Ms. Parker attended school in the Tensas Parish school system and graduated from Tensas Rosenwald High School in St. Joseph, La. She received a bachelor of science degree at Grambling State University and her master of science and 30 plus degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Ms. Parker was a retired educator after embarking on a career that spanned 48 years. She taught school in the Concordia and Tensas Parish school systems and the Natchez-Adams School District.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Tom Jr., Charlie, Kary, Sam, James and George Parker; three sisters, Mary P. Smith, Betty P. Lloyd and Ora P. Montaguo.

Survivors include five sisters, Vera P. Bell and Sarah M. Parker, both of Monroe, Helen P. Brown and Evelyn L. Parker, both of Ferriday and Gloria P. Fleming and husband, Frank, of Pineville, La.; three sisters-in-law; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances.
