NATCHEZ — Services for Reginald P. “Reggie” Carter Jr., 66, of Ferriday, who died Friday, July 31, 2009, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Covington Road Church of Christ.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home and noon until time of services Tuesday at the church.
Mr. Carter was born March 20, 1943, in Natchez, the son of Reginald P. Carter Sr. and Nettie Laird Carter. He was a member of Covington Road Church of Christ. Mr. Carter was an avid hunter and sportsman, and was a retired public works director for the City of Natchez. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Shirley F. Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Annie “Pat” Carter; one daughter, Phyllis Carter Stephens and husband, Tommy, of Monterey; one son, Phillip Jerome Carter and wife, Melissa, of Ridgecrest; three grandchildren, Amber, Gabrielle and Annabelle; six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Emilee, Akeelah, Aiden, Calob and Mark; two brothers, Jerry R. Carter and wife, Carolyn, of Washington and David E. Carter and wife, Sussie, of Natchez; one nephew; and five nieces.
Pallbearers will be Homer Nettles, Ray Nettles, Buster Martinez, Terrell Jones, Chester Foster and Albert French.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Nettles and Polk Nettles.
