Natchez — Services for Lavada Ira Brewer, 98, of Natchez, who died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, in Natchez, will be at 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Reeves Cemetery in Pike County under the direction of Laird Funeral Home in Natchez.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brewer was born Nov. 27, 1910, in Tylertown, the daughter of Ira Fleet and Bessie Craft Rushing. She was known for her beautiful quilts and her bountiful gardens. She also loved her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde W. Brewer; two sons, Wooden Lee Brewer and Clyde Hulon Brewer; two brothers, Tommy and Ford Rushing, one granddaughter, Teresa Noreen Franklin and two sisters, Alma Rushing McCallister and Edna Rushing Wooten.

Survivors include one son, Alvin Adrian Brewer and his wife Louise of Olive Branch; two brothers, Richard Rushing, and Carl Aaron Rushing; one sister, Fleeta Alva Rushing Bracey of Tylertown; 12 grandchildren, Peggy Beckham and husband Robert of Senatobia, Alvin Ray Blackwell and wife Freda of Mobile, Ala., Lena Ann Boyles and husband Charles and Mary Jeanene Fowler, all of Nashville, Evelyn Renee Blackwell of Pensacola, Fla., Clyde Douglas Brewer, Janet Lynn Spillman and husband Robert and Michael Wayne Brewer, all of Natchez, Alvin Dickson and wife Laura of Auburn, Ga., Aaron Dickson and wife Ann of West Palm Beach, Fla., Robert Andrew Brewer and wife Madison and David Wooder Brewer, all of Olive Branch; 20 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
