NATCHEZ — Natchez Police are investigating a burglary in which someone must have been hoping to slick up their sticky fingers.
According to a report foiled at the Natchez Police Department, approximately $7,000 worth of heavy-duty oil was stolen from a business in the 150 area of Col. John Pitchford Parkway.
The burglars apparently accomplished the theft by breaking a back and side window before pulling the back window from its frame to enter the business, according to the report.
Once in the property, the burglars took 20 5-gallon buckets of Shell Rotella T1 heavy-duty engine oil, valued at approximately $2,000, 15 5-gallon buckets of Shell Rotella T3 heavy-duty engine oil, valued at approximately $2,000, and 14 five-gallon buckets of Mobil Delvac MX 15W-40 oil, valued at approximately $3,000.
The report said the business owner told police he had in the past seen people behind the business at night, but did not know who the burglars might be.
