GREENVILLE — Services for Joan Lester Shivers, 74, of Greenville, formerly of Natchez, who died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in St. Augustine, Fla., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mortimer Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Manor officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home in Greenville.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shivers was born Feb. 16, 1935, in Greenville, the daughter of Joab and Grace Cerino Lester. She lived in Benoit until the age of 18. She was a 1953 graduate of Benoit High School and married Wendell Stanley Shiver of Ruleville Aug. 15, 1954. She lived in Natchez from 1979 to 1994; Pineville, La., from 1970 to 1979; in Alabama from 1994 to 2009; and in January 2009, was a resident of St. Augustine, Fla.
She retired in 1991 after 20 years as manager of Equifax, a retail credit company. She also was employed by Dr. Barnes and Dr. Weed, both of Natchez, for two years until her health forced her to leave Natchez in 1994.
Survivors include four daughters, Pam S. Palmer of Hamilton, Ala., Carol Beth Campbell and husband, Bill, of Houston, Texas, Charlotte Bonner and husband, Chip, of St. Augustine and Wendy Gintz and husband, Mike, of Bently, La.; nine grandchildren, Courtney Palmer, Drew, Caitlan and Will Campbell, Blair Bonner, Ann and Taylor Lazarus, and Riley and Aya Gintz; one great-grandson, Jose Burgos; and two sisters, Linda Mraz of Duncanville, Texas and Rosemary Hughes of Greenville.
