GLOSTER — Services for Rufus Jewel Haney, 74, a native of Crosby and long-time resident of Brandon, who died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 at Riveroaks Hospital in Flowood, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Gloster.
Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery near Crosby under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today and noon until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Haney was born Feb. 18, 1935 in Crosby, the son of Paul Rufus Haney and Gracie Mae Cobb Haney. He was a retired welder and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rachel Haney; and three brothers, Silas Haney, Jerry Haney and Richard Haney.
Survivors include one son, Paul Haney of Brandon; three daughters, Becky H. Smith of Flowood, Loretta H. Packer of Madison and Lisa H. Neal of Brandon; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary H. Netterville of Woodville and one brother, Wayne “Red” Haney of Natchez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
