NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Dorothy Reed Pickering, 84, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Adams County Nursing Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Natchez City Cemetery with the Rev. John Kramer officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pickering was born July 22, 1928, in Natchez, the daughter of Homer C. Pickering and Rubye Miller Pickering. She graduated from Natchez High School in 1946 where she was a member of the “Pep Squad” and a member of the track team. After graduation, she worked at H.F. Byrne Company until her marriage in 1951.
Mrs. Pickering served as a den mother for a Cub Scout pack in Tuscaloosa, Ala., for a number of years. She was a member of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, which she did for a number of years.
Mrs. Pickering was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Reed Pickering.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Ray Pickering; one son, Daniel Ray Pickering and wife, Carole, of Cupertino, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson Street United Methodist Church Building Fund.
