Rev. John Veal

GLOSTER — Services for the Rev. John Veal, 93, of Crosby, who died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at noon Saturday at First Baptist Church of Gloster.
Burial will follow at Clayton Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Rev. Veal was born Sept. 4, 1916, in New Road, La., the son of John Veal Sr. and Joanna Bell Veal.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Veal; his parents; one daughter, Hazel Nelson; one son, Preston Veal; and one niece, Joanna Fields.
Survivors include seven children, Willie H. Veal, Florence Bateaste and Shelly A. Hall, all of Gloster, John L. Veal and wife, Mildred, of Meadville, Salina Mason, Patricia Rogers and Nora Rowe and husband, Earl, all of Baton Rouge; three stepchildren, the Rev. David Franklin and wife, Diane, of Baker, La., Alma Ray and the Rev. Rosetta Scott and husband, Arthur, all of Baton Rouge; one niece, Hattie Brumfield of Chicago; and a number of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
