FERRIDAY — Services for Ellis “ET” Taylor, 76, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Bush and the Rev. Preston Holder officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor was born Feb. 27, 1933, in Crowville, La., the son of Walter Taylor and Jessie Arnold Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was retired from Ashland Pipeline. He owned and operated Taylor Texaco and was also employed by Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office. He served as a deacon at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Mr. Taylor served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and treasured his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Lavern Gardner, Dorothy Tillison, Mae Esters and Lavada Coleman; four brothers, WC Taylor, CD Taylor, Leonard Taylor and Ernest Taylor; and one daughter-in-law, Dianne Taylor.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Virgie Hawkins Taylor; two sons, Randy Taylor and wife, Letha, and David Taylor and the late Diane Taylor, all of Vidalia; two daughters, Connie Seyfarth and husband, William, and Tammy Taylor, all of Ferriday; three sisters, Beatrice Netherland, Katherine Newsom and Elaine McGuffee; two brothers, Alson Taylor and Jimmy Taylor; 12 grandchildren, Melissa Cangemi and husband, Paul, Heath Seyfarth and wife, Rebecca, Stephanie Henslee and husband, Brent, Jason Taylor and wife, Ashley, Abby Taylor, Shane Seyfarth, Dana McGivaren and husband, Chris, Janeé Arnold, Jessica and John Davis, Amanda Cummings and Haley Kepper; 18 great-grandchildren, Storm Cangemi, Cole Cangemi, Katie Cangemi, Randy Henslee, Amie and Chase Henslee, Cee Jay Taylor, Conner Taylor, Caden Taylor, Anna Belle Taylor, Peyton McGivaren, Rachel McGivaren, Kristyn Arnold, Jordan Arnold, Landon Seyfarth, Macy Seyfarth, Jonah and Jaxon Davis; and extended family, Rayford and Gloria Buckles, Jeffery and Ann Goodman, Nellie Harrell, David Ainsworth, Margaret Lee and Cheryl Havard.
Pallbearers will be Jason Taylor, Heath Seyfarth, Paul Cangemi, Brent Henslee, Storm Cangemi, Shane Seyfarth, Cole Cangemi and Randy Henslee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rayford Buckles, Ron Bosarge, Peyton McGivaren, Jordan Arnold and Landon Seyfarth.
