What better way to welcome December than with 70-degree temperatures, blue skies and a beautiful weekend?

We know some folks love a white Christmas, but the mild climate in these parts is one of the things we enjoy most about the Miss-Lou.

But as we said goodbye to November last week, a few other things made us smile as well.

Let’s review a few good things.

– Two local families have completed the requirements and graduated from the Adams County Family Drug Court. Though the circumstances that got these families involved in the program weren’t good, their graduation is great news. It means two more families are equipped to grow and prosper together, and for that, we say congratulations.

– The Natchez Fire Department surprised L’Kaylah Harris, 6, at her school with a special hero award. Harris saved her family members several weeks ago when she awoke to a house fire and alerted everyone quickly.

– Monterey 17-year-old Elliot Britt is a fire hero of another kind. The teen volunteers with the Monterey Fire Department, extinguishes fires and responds to emergency calls. Britt cares about his community and is truly the model of the kind of young man we love to see. Keep up the great work, Elliot.

– The Natchez, Ferriday and Vidalia Christmas parades all rolled this weekend, bringing Christmas cheer despite warm temperatures.
