VIDALIA — Today is the last day to vote early for the Dec. 8 parish drainage tax election.
Early voting can be done at the registrar of voter’s office in the Concordia Parish Courthouse between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
On the parishwide ballot is a proposed 1-mill drainage tax to be levied in perpetuity. The tax is expected to generate $133,700 annually, and will be directed to fund the operation and maintenance of drainage structures in the parish.
Voters in the Monterey area can also cast a vote to decide if a $50 per parcel fee to fund the Monterey-area fire district can be levied for 10 years.
The seats for school board district 4B and Ferriday’s alderman’s district B seat are also on ballots in those districts.
The school board race is between Jeffery Goodman and Angela Hayes.
The Ferriday race is between Elijah “Stepper” Banks and “Chris” Chatman.
