NATCHEZ — Services for Peggy D. Burns, 72, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. today at McNeely Road Church of God with the Rev. Thomas Tapley officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Burns was born Jan. 1, 1937, in Natchez, the daughter of Oscar Frederick Dukes and Ollie Belle Kimbro Dukes. She was a lifelong floral designer and instructor at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lou Burns; two sisters, Barbara Naron and Rita Dunn; and one brother, Jimmy Dukes.
Survivors include two sons, Craig Godbold and wife, Teresa, of Natchez and Ricky Godbold and wife, Pam, of Vidalia; one daughter, Pam Smith and husband, Wayne, of Clayton, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Tony Godbold, Sarah Godbold, Ryan Godbold, Jamie Rymer, Cristin Rymer and Myra Champlin; and one sister, Virgie Pennington.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Smith, Curtis Pennington, Tommy Dunn, Tony Godbold, John Bonds and George Prescott.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
