NATCHEZ — Taylor Wilson and Kamryn Vanlandingham combined for 34 points to lead the Copiah Academy Lady Colonels to a 53-25 win over the Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels Monday night.

Wilson led all scorers with 19 points and Vanlandingham scored 15 points for Copiah Academy, which jumped out to a 12-1 lead over a depleted ACCS team at the end of the first quarter and rolled from there.

“In victory as well as in defeat, to God be the glory,” Lady Rebels head coach Melanie Hall said. “We’ve just got to keep battling and persevering. If we continue to do the things we do, we’re going to be there in the end.”

But that could be a problem considering that the Lady Rebels have had all five of their starting players get injured at some point. The latest was Maggie Ray who scored five points before having to leave the game with a concussion. And this was the same game that two of their starters returned from injuries.

“We’re getting players back one at a time,” Hall said.

The Lady Colonels held the Lady Rebels to 11 total points over the next two quarters for a 42-12 lead. They were aided by ACCS’s inability to get shots to go in.

“Tonight, if we had made lay-ups and free throws, it would have been a whole lot closer than the score indicated,” Hall said.

Nikki Worthey led ACCS with 10 points and Tory Laird scored seven points. The Lady Rebels (2-4) host Bowling Green School today.

Centreville Academy 34, Amite School Center 23

CENTREVILLE — Tori Rouse scored 17 points to help Centreville Academy overcome a poor shooting performance as the Lady Tigers defeated the Amite School Center Lady Rebels Monday afternoon.

Centreville scored just four points in the first quarter and trailed Amite School Center 6-4 at the end of the quarter before taking control of the game from the second quarter on despite its shooting woes.

“We were very cold in the first quarter. The second quarter we got a little better. We had a cold-shooting night the whole night,” Lady Tigers first-year head coach Mike Swindle said.

Swindle had his team go to a full-court press and it worked as Centreville outscored Amite School Center 10-4 in the second quarter to take a 14-10 lead into halftime and then 8-3 in the third quarter for a 22-13 lead.

“It was a good win for us. We needed it,” Swindle said.

Centreville Academy (2-2) next plays at Cathedral on Monday, Nov. 26.

Bowling Green 56, Trinity Episcopal 14

FRANKLINTON, La. — Ashley Foret led Bowling Green School with a game-high 11 points and as the Lady Buccaneers cruised to a 44-point win over the Trinity Episcopal Lady Saints Monday afternoon.

The game was out of hand by the end of the first quarter, when Bowling Green had a 29-1 lead over Trinity. The Lady Buccaneers never looked back at that point.

“We’ve got a lot of things to learn and a short time to do it,” Lady Saints head coach Chuck Bauerle said. “We’re going to try to improve if we can. We’re short on senior players. We’re still in a learning process.”

Sloane Young led the Lady Saints with seven points and Marty Lewis had five points.

Trinity Episcopal (0-3) plays at Silliman Institute on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
