NATCHEZ — The Adams County Board of Supervisors voted Monday to finance three previously approved SUVs for the sheriff’s office for three years.

County Administrator Joe Murray opened bids for the loan from four banks. The bid was awarded to Trustmark National Bank for a 1.98 interest rate for three years.

The supervisors approved the purchase of the police edition Chevrolet Tahoes at the request of Sheriff Chuck Mayfield during budget discussions in August.

Murray said the vehicles will cost a total of $78,100.

In other news from the meeting:

• The supervisors voted to donate $1,000 to the local Wreaths Across America program. The national organization coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington, as well as veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states, including the Natchez National Cemetery.

• The supervisors, at the request of Southwest Planning and Development District Planner Allen Laird, approved the county’s hazard mitigation plan.

• Supervisor Angela Hutchins presented purchasing clerk Frances Bell with a $900 prize for winning the county’s employee weight loss competition.

• The supervisors took bids from nine companies for contracting services on the Belwood Country Club property. The work would involve relocating Natchez Water Works sewer lines in preparation for the construction of a production facility by the biofuels company KiOR.
