LELAND, La. — Funeral services for James Ed Mason, 70, of Leland, La., who died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, will be at 2 p.m. today at New Hope Apostolic Church in Leland with the Rev. Chris Hamilton, the Rev. Clyde Grayson and the Rev. Cecil Grantham officiating.
Burial will follow at New Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Mason was born Jan. 26, 1939, the son of Claude and Leatha Mason.
He worked for 30 years for the Tensas Basin Levee District, 14 years for the Catahoula Parish School Board and was a volunteer fireman for the Leland Fire Department.
His favorite past time was gardening and spending time with his children. He was a dedicated member of New Hope Apostolic Church and a lifelong resident of Leland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wanda Gail Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Judy Mason; two sons, Rodney Mason and wife Shelli of Harrisonburg and Glen Mason and wife Shannon of Vidalia; two daughters, Sharon Eubanks and husband Ronnie of Leland and Margaret Ford and husband Sherman of Leland; three brothers, Clarence “Bud Mason and wife Francis of Ringgold, Charles Mason and wife Eva of Heflin and Kenny Mason and wife Paula of Benton; four sisters, Daisy Rowells and husband Ray of Heflin, Dorothy Henson and husband Vernon of Bossier, Claudine Delaney and husband Dave of Bossier and Barbara Carter and husband Randall of Ringgold; and nine grandchildren, Eddie Mason, Wesley Eubanks, Brooke Eubanks, Thomas Mason, Blake Ford, Samantha Ford, Garrett Woods, Zachary Woods and Chynna Dayton.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ford Sr., Billy Floyd Jr., Danny Walston, Hank Mason, Ronnie Spears and Johnny Spears.
Honorary pallbearers are the Leland Fire Department and the Tensas Basin Levee District.
