FERRIDAY — Services for Virginia Fletcher Griggs, 81, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Everette Schiele officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Griggs was born Dec. 28, 1927, the daughter of Eddie and Virginia Johnson Fletcher. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Clyde Griggs.

Survivors include her husband, Sylvester Griggs; six sons, Russell Griggs and wife, Linda, of Dickerson, Texas, Larry Griggs and wife, Gladys, and Michael Griggs, all of LaMarque, Texas, Kenneth Griggs and wife, Joyce, of Austin, Texas, David Griggs and wife, Sandra, of Reseda, Calif., and Kerry Griggs of Las Vegas; six daughters, Barbara Whitfield and husband, George, of Marana, Calif., Regina Griggs of Shreveport, La., Lorie Moore of Granada Hills, Calif., Sherry Griggs Miller of Mission Hills, Calif., Holly Watson and husband, James, of Long Beach, Calif., and Jenniffer White and husband, Robert, of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Joseph Fletcher of Frogmore, La., and Eddie Lee Fletcher of Milwaukee, Wisc.; four sisters, Minnie Leonard of Ferriday, Bertha Williams and Ophelia Booker, both of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Ruth Salvage of Pittsburg, Pa.; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
