Prep basketball: Griffin’s 20 points not enough for Bulldogs

VICKSBURG — Dearius Griffin led the Bulldogs with 20 points, but it wasn’t enough as Natchez High School dropped its third game of the season to Vicksburg High School 55-51 Thursday.
Gary Woods and Kaylin Griffin both added 10 points for the Bulldogs, and Jadarrius Williams tallied nine points.
The Bulldogs led 31-27 at the half 45-43 at the end of the third.
NHS (1-2) will return to action Nov. 27 as it hosts Ferriday High School.
Parklane Academy 52, Trinity boys 29
MCCOMB — No one for the Saints managed to score in double digits as Trinity Episcopal dropped its season opener against Parklane Academy.
Tommy McCoy and Sky Logan both scored nine points for Trinity, which led 18-16 at the half. A 19-point third quarter for Parklane proved the difference, as Trinity scored just three points in that same period.
Trinity fell to 0-1 on the season.
Parklane Academy 51, Trinity girls 11
Trinity trailed 38-2 at intermission and wasn’t able to get anything going as the Lady Saints fell to Parklane Academy, dropping them to 0-2 on the season.
Gabby Knight had four points for the Lady Saints, while Tali Beard finished with three points. Sloan Young and Marty Lewis each tallied two points.
The Lady Saints will play at Bowling Green Monday.
