NATCHEZ — Services for Inez Pitchford Marlow, 71, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday, both at the church.

Mrs. Marlow was born Aug. 19, 1938, in Natchez, the daughter of John Joseph Pitchford and Inez Hunter Pitchford.

She was a devout Catholic and attended St. Mary Basilica and Assumption Catholic Church in Natchez. She was an active member of the Altar Society and served as a lector and commentator at Assumption Catholic Church. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. Marlow was an alumnus of Cathedral School and was an avid supporter of Cathedral athletics. She was also a member of Pilgrimage Garden Club and Krewe of Killarney. She was formerly employed at The Briars, Longwood and Monmouth Plantation and volunteered at the Guardian Collection.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Margaret Emily Hollowell; four brothers, Col. John Joseph “Jack” Pitchford, Col. Charles Frederick Pitchford, Frank Martin Pitchford and Frederick Pitchford; one sister, Margaret “Peggy” Pitchford; two brothers-in-law, Gene Loomis and Kirk Bartley; her father-in-law, Orvis D. Marlow Sr.; and mother-in-law, Sue L. Marlow.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Orvis D. Marlow Jr.; six daughters, Ann M. Hollowell, Margaret M. Stutzman and husband, Eddie, Catherine Marlow and Susan Marlow, all of Natchez, Carolyn M. Fish and husband, Geoffrey, of Dickinson, Texas, and Melanie Marlow of Athens, Texas; nine grandchildren, Wayne Collier and fiancée, Brooke Clark, of Jackson, Wade Collier and wife, Jennifer, Stephanie McIntosh and fiancée, Andy Guida, Isaac McIntosh, Gregory Hollowell and wife, Dana, Daniel Hollowell, and Eric Hollowell, all of Natchez, Hunter Fish and Abbie Fish, both of Dickinson, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt Hollowell and Jayde Collier, both of Natchez; two sisters, Mary Catherine Loomis of Lafayette, La., and Judy P. Bartley of Natchez; four brothers, Thomas “Tom” Pitchford and wife, Joan, and James “Jim” Pitchford and wife, Leigh, all of Baton Rouge, Richard Pitchford of Natchez, and Gerald Pitchford and wife, Yara, of Santa Fe, N.M.; three sisters-in-law, Patricia “Patty” Pitchford of Norfolk, Va., Sherry Pitchford of Memphis, Tenn., and Merle Brown of Natchez; a number nieces, nephews, cousins and a number of special friends, including Rosilyn Adams, Ruth Fatheree, Rose Godfrey and Billie Auld, all of Natchez.

Mrs. Marlow was an avid animal lover and leaves behind three beloved yellow labs, Lucy, Lilly, Little Boy Marlow and her cat, Baby Kit.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Collier, Wade Collier, Daniel Hollowell, Eric Hollowell, Geoffrey Fish, Hunter Fish, Ralph “Butch” Pitchford and John Charles Loomis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gregory Hollowell, Isaac McIntosh, Eddie Stutzman and Jimmy Whitt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Family Life Center at St. Mary Basilica or Assumption Catholic Church in Natchez.
