NATCHEZ — Services for Woodrow “Bird” Blanton, 79, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Blanton was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Natchez, the son of Frank and Alberta Blanton. He accepted Christ as his savior at an early age.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tina Blanton; his parents; stepmother, Tina Blanton; two sisters, Edna B. Washington and Alliner Hawkins; three brothers, John Blanton, Robert L. Blanton Sr., and Charles Tunnie Blanton; and five brothers-in-law.
Survivors include five sisters, Celia Banks, Inetta Barnes, Claudia Jones, Alberta Hargraves and husband, Jim, and Ruthie Tucker and husband, Archie, all of Natchez; four brothers, Marvin Blanton and wife, Hannah, Ronald Blanton, Richard Blanton, all of Natchez, and Roosevelt Blanton and wife, Lena, of New Orleans; goddaughter, Claudia Mae Jones of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
