NATCHEZ — Services for Charles Preston Godard, 69, of Natchez, who died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Natchez First Baptist Church with Dr. Doug Broom officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street, then from 1 p.m. to service time Monday at the church.
Mr. Godard was born July 17, 1940, in Natchez, the son of Russell Madison Godard and Mary Eloise Tarver Godard.
He retired from International Paper Co. after 42 years of service.
He was a member of The Natchez Photography Club and Steamboat Sams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Russell Godard, Jimmy Hodges, Falconer Hodges and Robert Hodges; and his sisters, Johnnie Dykes and Audrey Vines.
Survivors include wife, Pam Godard of Natchez; son, Bruce M. Godard of Natchez; daughter, Gayle Robertson and husband, Marke, of Natchez; stepson, Seth H. Smith, Jr. and wife, Amanda, of St. Gariel La.; stepdaughter, Kelley Thompson and husband, Chuck, of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren, Seth H. Smith III, Jessica Jackson, April Temple, Abrina Temple and Charlotte Thompson; brother, James R. Godard and wife, Emma, of Brookhaven; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John Bozeman, Chuck Thompson, Marke Robertson, Russell Vines, Billy Torrey and Doug Arnold.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jack Rodriguez, Dr. Barry Tillman, Dr. Randy Tillman, Dr. Roderick Givens, Roy Strickland, Matt Dillon, Walter Maier, Jimmy Hodges Jr. and Shane Johnson.
