FERRIDAY — Services for Jerome Harris Sr., 61, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow at Zion Hill Cemetery in Ferriday under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Harris was born Nov. 16, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Hymes Harris Sr. and Mary Johnson.

Mr. Harris served on the Town of Ferriday Town Council for 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two children, Renee and Nicole Harris Johnson.

Survivors include one son, Jerome Harris Jr. of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, DeeDee Harris; three sisters, Diana Harris and Sarah Bowman, all of Ferriday, and Ethel Bowman of Carrollton, Texas; two brothers, Hymes Harris Jr. of Ferriday and James Bowman and wife, Mary, of Fort Washington, Md.; one stepbrother, Robert Williams and wife, Earline, of Ferriday; eight grandchildren, Olajuwan K. Harris, Ahkieam J. Harris, Jasean J. Harris, Brianna Harris, Jacoby M. Harris, Maliek Harris and Charles Harris; and lifelong friend, Frank “Khaki Man” Wesley of Houston, Texas.
