FERRIDAY — Services for Marian Augusta Melancon, 77, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis Sklar officiating.
Burial will follow at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a Rosary at 7 p.m., all at the church.
Mrs. Melancon was born Sept. 21, 1932, in Edgard, La., the daughter of Wilbert Augusta and Lana Young Augusta. She was employed by Concordia Parish School System as a dietary supervisor.
She was a member of the Matron Civic Club, St. Patrick’s Choir, Altar Society, Ferriday Downtown Revitalization Committee, Delta Music Festival Committee, Ferriday High School Athletic Association and the Retired School Employee Association of Concordia Parish.
Mrs. Melancon was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Walter Melancon Sr.; one son, Reginald Melancon Sr.; one brother, Isaiah Fleming Jr.; and stepfather, the Rev. Isaiah Fleming Sr.
Survivors include mother; two sons, Walter Melancon Jr. and wife, Becky, all of Ferriday, and Donaldson “Ricky” Melancon and wife, Shelly, of Monroe, La.; two daughters, Sandra Webster and husband, Louis, of Jena, La., and Rita Franklin and husband, Glynn, of Ferriday; two sisters, Vivian Dishmon of Vidalia and Deloris Lee of Rialto, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Viola Washington of Baton Rouge; two brothers-in-law, Milton Melancon and wife, Faye, and Alex Melancon and wife, Mary, all of Ferriday; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
