NATCHEZ — Services for Nell Fife Murphy, 87, who died March 1, 2010, at the Magnolia House Terrace in Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Murphy was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Washington, the daughter of Henry C. and Nannie Mary Marling Fife. She was employed by Murphy Typewriter Company and Parish-Murphy Typewriter Company as secretary and bookkeeper.
Mrs. Murphy was an active member of St. Mary Basilica.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion Wesley Murphy; one infant grandchild, Colleen Shea McIntyre; three brothers, Henry, Frank and Billy Fife; and two sisters, Ophelia Fife Jackson and Nan Fife West.
Survivors include one daughter, Marion Murphy McIntyre and husband, Chip; two sons, Michael Wesley Murphy and wife, Patricia, all of Natchez, and Patrick Reily Murphy and wife, Penny, of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Tracy Murphy of Memphis, Tenn., Shane McIntyre of St. Meinrad, Ind., Courtney McIntyre Manning, Hydie Murphy Wahlborg and husband, Johnny, and Reily Murphy and wife, Mitsy, all of Baton Rouge; six great-great-grandchildren, Carley, Coleman and Cary Wahlborg, Patrick, Betsy and Grant Murphy, all of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Margaret Fife Martin of Pascagoula, Artie Fife Holland of Natchez and Kitty Fife Booker of Cleveland; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Shane McIntyre, Reily Murphy, Johnny Wahlborg, Coleman Wahlborg, Frank Holland and Daryl Holland.
The family would like to thank the employees of the Magnolia House Terrace and especially Rose Hutchins for their dedication in providing loving care to Nell during her illness.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Basilica Capital Campaign Fund or to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
