FERRIDAY — Services for Lorraine Gale Adams, 89, of St. Joseph, La., who peacefully passed away in the care of the Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis Sklar officiating.
Burial will follow at the Adams Family Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Adams was born May 6, 1920, in Dedham, Mass., the daughter of John Leo and Mary Ellen Gale, and lived her formative years in Massachusetts. After marrying her husband, Magruder, she moved to Locust Ridge Plantation in St. Joseph and raised their daughters, Lorraine and Dianne (”Sweetie” and “Tig.”)
Mrs. Adams lived beside Sweetie until she moved to Brandon with her daughter, Dianne, and son-in-law, John, where she thoroughly enjoyed the remaining years of her life traveling, shopping and visiting her grandchildren and “great-grans” as often as she possibly could.
Mrs. Adams was known for her generosity, kind heart and the love she gave and received from others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Magruder Drake Adams Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine LaCour Adams of St. Joseph and Dianne Parker and husband, John Marshall, of Brandon; two grandchildren, Dawn LaCour Fosbury and husband, William Justin, of Austin, Texas and Jason Marshall Parker and wife, Marady Amity, of Mansfield, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Noelle LaCour Fosbury, Annabelle Leigh Fosbury, William Jaxon Fosbury and Adam Roy Crow and wife, Cristina Rodriguez-Crow of San Antonio, Texas; and one great-great-grandchild, Samuel Drake Crow.
Pallbearers will be William McDonald, Jean Gremillion, Tru Goldman, Mac Hazlip, Bobby James and Lawrence Perritt.
In lieu of flowers or food, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society.
