FAYETTE — Josie Mae Green “Lil Girl” Pree, 84, of Fayette, who died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fayette, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Rose Hill No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Roosevelt Harried officiating.
Burial will follow at Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
Mrs. Pree was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Sheb Green and Exelena Helem Green. She attended Jefferson County rural school system and later obtained her GED. Educational pursuits allotted through employment led her to earn a CNA license. She also completed a homemaker and home health aide course at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson.
She loved working. Over the years, she was employed by JEFCO/Fleck, Inc.; ITT Thompson Industries, both in Fayette; and for five years she worked as a homemaker with Oxford Healthcare. She was retired as nutrition site manager with Southwest Mississippi Planning and Development.
Mrs. Pree was a member of Rose Hill No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener. She was known for a very large collection and extensive variety of potted plants.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include two loving daughters, Ethel Jones and husband and, Mac Arthur, of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Barbara Pree Lewis of Fayette; eight grandchildren, Sean Jones of Farmington Hills, Deidra Brown and husband, Joseph, of Killeen, Texas, Lakeita Lewis of Fayette, Kay Pree of Detroit, Janice Hargrave and husband, Samuel, of Atlanta, Solomon James Jr. and wife, Colette, and Dinah James, all of New Orleans, and Mary Ann Brown and husband, James, of Columbia; eight great-grandchildren; a very dear cousin and caretaker, Percy Jackson of Fayette; one brother-in-law, Willie James Pree of Natchez; four sisters-in-law, Bertha White and Geraldine Pree, both of Cannonsburg, Gertrude Green of Denton, Texas and Ninnie Green of Detroit; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Solomon James Jr., James Brown, Clarence Green, Patrick Kaho, Jerry Brown and James Harried.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sgt. Issac Harris, Sean Jones, Percy Jackson, Mac Arthur Jones, Ben Porter, Thomas Green, Joseph Green, Eddie Green, Frank Green and Joseph Brown.
