E.J. Rankin

Natchez — Services for E.J. Rankin, 80, of Nathcez, who died Friday, April 9, 2010, at Natchez Regional Medical Center will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Southerland officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Rankin was born May 22, 1929, in Columbia, La., the son of William J. Rankin and Idilla Carter Rankin. He was a retired deputy sheriff of Adams County.

Mr. Rankin was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tony Dennis Rankin; one brother, Henry J. Rankin and one sister, Hazel Daley.

Survivors include hiw wife Willie Mae Rankin; one son, Joe Rankin and wife Libby; two daughters, Deborah Stone and husband Gary and Carolyn Berryand husband Mike; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one nephew, Vollie Porter and wife Melba.

Pallbearers will be Leland Rymer, Bruce McCall, Britton McCall, John Kammendiner, William Rushing, Alex Smith, Mike Green and Jimmy Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Johnson, Paul Burke, Harvey Morris, Dale Nelson, Monty Wilson, Harold Whittington, Sonny Johnson and James Pennington.
