NATCHEZ — Services for Thomas Matthews Sr., 69, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at the University Medical Center in Jackson, will be at noon Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, both at the church.
Mr. Matthews was born Aug. 29, 1943, in Natchez, the son of Clyde Sterling Matthews and Earnest Weir Matthews. He was a golfer.
Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Clyde Matthews Jr., James Bernard and John Richard Bernard.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Theresa Matthews; one daughter, Toni Kersh and husband, George; three sons, Thomas Matthews Jr., Byran Bates and wife, Monica, and Phillip Anthony West; one stepdaughter, Tami Washington and husband, Joseph; one sister, Eva Smith; three brothers, Elmore Matthews and wife, Betty, Charles Matthews Sr. and wife, Betty, and Percy Bernard; six grandchildren, Morris Kersh, Kristian Matthews, Javon Washington, Kaelin Kersh, India Washington and Breana Bates; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
