HAMBURG — Services for Verla Magee James, 90, of Natchez, who died Monday, April 19, 2010, in Natchez, will be at noon Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. James was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Ben Robinson and Addie Magee. She attended Bethlehem Baptist Church school. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. James was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in New Orleans for more than 60 years; served on the Mother’s Board at Bethlehem Baptist Church; and was also a member of Second Baptist Church in Las Vegas.

She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee James; two sons, Earl Ray James and John Lee James; one grandson, Ryan Charles James; and six siblings, Joe Magee, Kirby Magee, Percy Magee, Thelma Magee James, Charity Magee Parker and Mary Magee Gibson.

Survivors include one daughter, Elsie James; one son, Charles James and wife, Jackie; four grandchildren, Kathryn “Cait” Edwards, Danielle James Washington and husband, Ramsey, Eric James and wife, Summer, and Sybil James; and a number of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
