HOLLOW ROCK, Tenn. — Services for Mavis Audine Summers, 88, of Natchez, formerly of Hollow Rock, Tenn., who died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Prospect Baptist Church in Hollow Rock with the Rev. Jimmy Allison, the Rev. Steve Atwood, the Rev. Sonny Daniels and the Rev. Stephen Gardner officiating.
Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery near Camden, Tenn., under the direction of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Summers was born Aug. 17, 1921, in Carroll County, Tennessee, the daughter of Henry Stephen Joyner and Audray Joyner. She was married to Felix Lee Summers who preceded her in death in 1968. Mrs. Summers moved to Natchez in 2006 to be near her daughter and family.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Mildred Kennon; one stepson, Delton Summers; and one sister, Lela Mae Summers, all of Camden.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Gardner and husband, Bob, of Natchez; one stepdaughter, Estelle French and husband, E.R. “Ralph,” of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Elaine Vanderslice of Brookhaven and Steve Gardner and wife, Keisha, of Natchez; one step-grandson, James Kennon and wife, Linda, of Camden; eight great-grandchildren; Brad Gardner, Tyler Gardner, Devin Gardner, Dustin Vanderslice and wife, Cassie, Courtney Vanderslice, Casey Vanderslice, Blair Vanderslice and Jason Kennon and wife, Shonna; and three great-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace Vanderslice, Klayton Kennon and Layne Vanderslice.
Pallbearers will be great-grandchildren, Brad, Tyler and Devin Gardner, Dustin and Casey Vanderslice and Jason Kennon.
