Local Belk associate wins company-wide award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Zerline King of Natchez is one of six Belk associates have been named winners of the 2009 Belk Award of Excellence. Each received a $500 cash prize and the Award of Excellence trophy at a luncheon hosted by the Belk family and top management in Charlotte on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.
King is the cash office manager in the Natchez store.
“We salute the winners for their outstanding community achievements and spirit of giving,” said Tim Belk, chairman and CEO, Belk, Inc. “They have inspired us with their actions to care for others, especially those who are less fortunate and have special needs.”
The annual award is the highest honor given to Belk associates for outstanding community service and job performance. It is designed to acknowledge and promote the spirit of service that is a hallmark of Belk stores.
In recognition of the program’s 30th anniversary, Belk also donated $300 to each of the 2009 winners’ charity of choice in their communities.
