James Day

FAYETTE — Services for James E. Day, 98, of Fayette, who died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Jefferson County Nursing Home, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hollywood Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Jefferson Chapel Cemetery in Church Hill under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.
Mr. Day was born June 28, 1912, in Mississippi, the son of Ruben Day and Julianne Carridine Day.
He was a sawmill worker and a member and deacon of Rose Hill No. 1 Baptist Church.
Mr. Day was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Kaho Day; his parents; one son, James Day Jr.; and two daughters, L.V. Day and Gloria Mae Day.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Day and Mildred, Robert Day and Bessie and Donald Day and Shelly; six daughters, Lillie Arnold of Omaha, Neb., Beatrice Day-Holmes of Cannonsburg, Delores Jones, Ora Doss, Mary Hamberline and Lavern and Cassandra Guice and Dudley, all of Fayette; two adopted daughters, Gabrielle Day and Kyra Day of Fayette; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Cyrus Day, Brent Jones, Darius Hamberlin, Dudley Guice Jr., Marcus Fleming and LaFendrick Day.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Rose Hill No. 1 Baptist Church.
