VIDALIA — Services for Joseph Lee “Joe” Mays, 77, of Vidalia, who died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Mays was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Ferriday, the son of Dan and Calena Henderson Mays. He was retired from the City of Vidalia Water Department. He also was retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service.
Mr. Mays was a member of Pride of Vidalia No. 106 Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Gray Mays; three sons, Dariel Brown Mays and Kadrick Johnson, both of Vidalia, and Kelvin Mays Sr. and wife, Lisa, of Tallulah, La.; two daughters, Sylvia Jordan and Sharon Stewart and husband, Gary, all of Vidalia; one brother, Willie Mays Sr.; one sister, Rosie L. Hagans, both of Ferriday; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two godchildren, Melvin Knight Sr. of Vicksburg and Vernell Hayes Jr. of New Orleans.
