Wet weather didn’t hamper Roger’s swing

Cathedral High senior Wesley Rogers took low medalist honors, firing a 71 to win the Natchez Invitational Golf Tournament and held the lead for Green Wave to win the tournament championship on a wet Duncan Park course Tuesday.
Cathedral finished with a score of 317, just nipping Brookhaven at 319. Warren Central placed third at 326, while Natchez High came in at 350. Vicksburg totaled 356.
Rogers fired a 35 on the front nine and 36 on the back nine.
&uot;Wesley is playing well right now,&uot; said Cathedral coach Terry Moffett. &uot;He’s a senior so we expect this kind of thing out of him.&uot;
Christopher Martin finished second to Rogers with a 79. Christopher Zuccaro fired an 83, Stephen Michel shot an 84 and Mark Carter came in at 87.
For Natchez, Mikey Mardis led the way with a 79. Jordan Anderson came in at 83, while Michael Plauche fired a 92. Brandon Miller finished at 96, while Jamie Profice put up a 115.

Cathedral finished second to St. Aloysius at the Class 1A state golf tournament in Vicksburg last year after winning two straight golf titles.
&uot;We want to finish strong, especially at the end of April,&uot; Moffett said. &uot;We’re starting to come around and get our game.&uot;
