November welcomes good news

The election for sheriff kept things interesting last week, that’s for sure. But now that we have two candidates headed for a runoff, a “yes” for recreation and a few less campaign signs around town, it’s time to get ready for the next big thing — holidays.
But before we forget November and Thanksgiving in favor of Christmas, let’s take a minute to review the good news from the first week of turkey month.
Ferriday Lower Elementary students are buzzing this year with a still-new program of positive reinforcement in place. Teachers reward students who behave appropriately with bee bucks that can be spent at the Honey Money Store.
The bee rules have students behaving and going the extra mile to get their rewards.
Angels on the Bluff was yet again a success. School buses full of history buffs filled Canal Street Friday and Saturday night as cemetery guests were transported to the tours. The annual fundraiser not only benefits the cemetery, but leaves everyone lucky enough to get tickets smiling, too.
Bad Boy Buggies, a local manufacturing company, got good news from the IRS — buying some buggy models earns the buyer a tax credit. The company expects sales to go up and may soon be hiring more employees.
As Christmas decorations go up around us and Natchez becomes a city of lights, we know the holiday season will bring plenty of grins.
