Natchez native Marco Minor is hoping the book on football at Copiah-Lincoln Community College football has a better ending in 1999 than it did in 1998.

The Wolves finished 2-8 this past season in Minor’s freshman year.

The highly-touted 6-foot-4, 212–pound receiver led the Wolves in receiving with 15 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

&uot;It was an all right year, but it could have been better,&uot; Minor said. &uot;We just need to settle down and get on the same page about things. We have to do the basic things that are needed to win on any level.&uot;

Minor originally committed to Mississippi State, but went to Co-Lin when he wasn’t eligible to play as a freshman at State.

&uot;It wasn’t too much different,&uot; Minor said of the jump to junior college football. &uot;It’s quicker because the players are much faster. You have to be a little smarter on the field.&uot;

Minor said he plans on working on his speed and size during the off season.

&uot;I just want to get better at the game of football,&uot; he said.

Co-Lin had only 14 sophomores on its roster last year, as several freshman started, including four from Natchez.

&uot;When you are around guys and have been together a few years, it helps become one unit,&uot;&160;Minor said. &uot;It’s like nothing has changed with the same guys out there who I went to high school with.&uot;

Former Minor teammates Clarence Parker caught 12 passes for 174 yards, while Hunter Ogden passed for 739 yards.

Minor said he is unsure now what he will do after finishing up at Co-Lin.

&uot;Really in truly I’m still open to offers,&uot; he said. &uot;But my mind is still set on Mississippi State.&uot;

State was beaten by Texas 38-11 in the Cotton Bowl.

&uot;They just made too many mistakes,&uot; he said. a lot

Minor, who was named honorable mention all-state, said he hopes to make more catches next year.

&uot;I’m just going to try and catch everything that comes my way and help the team in whatever way I can,&uot;&160;he said. &uot;I’m ready to started back up again.&uot;
