Mississippi voters, including those in Adams County, have an important job this week.We must vote.
By casting ballots in this week’s party primary, we are helping to select the men and women who will be charged with leading our county and state government for the next four years. The process is a critical one, and one all too often overlooked by apathetic voters who don’t understand the importance of the rights they have.By voting in the party primary, you can help select the candidates who will be on the Nov. 2 general election. It’s the first step in a long and proven electoral system that has guided our democracy for more than 200 years now.And it works. If voters take the time to make intelligent, informed choices and to take an active role in the process, they tend to take more ownership in government &045; from the county level all the way to Congress. In today’s pages you’ll find information on candidates running for state and county seats in the primary – who they are, what they stand for, and more. And you’ll also find a listing of all the candidates you will see on the Democratic and Republic party primary And, you’ll find information on where and when to vote, along with reminders from the election commission. We encourage you to take the time to read this information today, to study the sample ballot listing and carefully consider your choices in the primary. And, most important, we want you to go to the polls on Tuesday and vote. It’s our right, and our responsibility.
