Willie Mae White

Aug. 31, 1921 – Aug. 7, 1999

Services for Willie Mae &uot;Little Girl&uot; White, 77, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating.

Burial will be at Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. White was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Ferriday, La., the daughter of George Duncan and Lucinda Bowman. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Ebenezer Baptist Church Choir.

Survivors include 10 children and their spouses, Ruby L. Cade, Henry and Laura White Jr., Helen White, Bobby and Robert Taylor, Dorothy and Nick Vaughn, Doreatha White, all of Natchez, Jessie White of Milwaukee, Wis., John White of Baltimore, Md., Yvonne White of New Orleans, La. and Henrietta White of Minneapolis, Minn.; two brothers; one sister; and a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Tyrone White, Vernell Cade, Ronald Williams, Robert Taylor, Frankie Sanders and James Henry Williams.

Herbert Lee Becks Sr.

Aug. 17, 1925 – Aug. 10, 1999

PORT GIBSON – Services for Herbert Lee Becks Sr., 73, who died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1925, at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Dorsey officiating.

Burial will be at Scott’s Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Inc.

Visitation is from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Becks was born Aug. 17, 1925, to Lucian Bates and Adline Hampton-Becks. He attended Archie Elementary School and Claiborne County Training School. He joined Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church and later joined First Baptist Church. He was employed with OK Cleaners in Port Gibson where he worked for more than 30 years, with Westinghouse Corp. and with the Claiborne County School System. He was a veteran of the Army.

Mr. Becks was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willie Carpenter and Wade Douglas; and two sisters, Clara Hudson and Rosa Lee Becks.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Becks of Port Gibson; a daughter, Janice Becks-King of Port Gibson; a son, Herbert L. Becks Jr. of Port Gibson; three sisters, Lucy McGloster of New York, N.Y., Ellen Hamlin of Port Gibson and Margaret Collins of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Becks of Port Gibson; a brother-in-law, S.D. Teemer of Chicago, Ill; a sister-in-law, Ruth Teemer of Chicago; a god-son, Davern Jones of Jackson; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jerry Andrew Haney

April 21, 1940 – Aug. 11, 1999

Services for Jerry Andrew Haney, 59, of Crosby, who died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bernard Waites officiating.

Burial will be at Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery in Crosby under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Haney was born April 21, 1940, in Crosby, the son of Paul Rufus and Gracie Mae Cobb Haney. He was a member of the Perrytown Church of Christ in Crosby and he was a honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Army. He owned and operated the Circle H Western Store, Haney Oil Company, Natchez Pump and Supply Co. and Trace City Welding.

Mr. Haney was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Silas Henry Haney.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Dean Smith Haney of Crosby; son and his wife, Terry Andrew and Roberta Lynn Woods Haney of Brandon; daughter and her husband, Sherry Dean Haney and Nathan Ray Holland of Crosby; a granddaughter, Amanda Marie Haney; a grandson, Reid Andrew Holland; three brothers, Rufus J. Haney of Jackson, Richard E. Haney of Crosby and Ronald W. Haney of Kingston; a sister, Mary Aline Haney Netterville of Woodville; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Paul Haney, Keith Packer, Calvin Netterville, Randy Johnson, Reggie Smith, Pete Haney, Bruce Nettles, Dalton McCabe. Honorary pallbearers will be J.E. Durham, Ernest Klar, Alton Ogden Sr., Eddie H. Ellis and Seth Haney.

Pearl Brown

Sept. 28, 1903 – Aug. 8, 1999

ST. JOSEPH, La. – Services for Pearl Brown, 95, of St. Joseph, who died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Isaiah Ross officiating.

Burial will be at Union Fraternal Cemetery in St. Joseph under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home, Inc.

Visitation is from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Ms. Brown was born Sept. 28, 1903, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Amos and Henrietta Jordan Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of Pilgrim Chapel Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible school teacher, and a member of the choir. She was also a member of a number of community clubs.

Survivors include two godchildren, Echemuna Long of Monroe, and Edward Brown of St. Joseph; two nieces, Estelle Perkins of Woodville and Elizabeth Randolph of New Orleans; nine nephews, Leon Brown Jr. of Sacramento, Calif., Amos Brown of Monroe, Lawrence Brown of Ann Arbor, Mich., Charles Brown of Los Angeles, Calif., James Conner of St. Louis, Mo., and Leonard Hayes of Baton Rouge; and a number of great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
