NATCHEZ — An uncooperative victim has stalled the Natchez Police Department’s investigation into a shooting on West Woodlawn Street early Wednesday morning.
Natchez Detective Jerry Ford said a victim was reportedly shot at outside a house in the 400 block of West Woodlawn Street but did not report the shooting.
A resident whose house was hit by a stray bullet from the shooting called police to report the incident, Ford said.
According to the police report, the resident reported that he heard five or six gunshots at approximately 3 a.m. and saw a car speed away from the residence.
Ford said the shooter was aiming for a man who was outside near the house and now refuses to cooperate with police.
“We haven’t been able to locate any other witnesses, and without the victim naming a suspect, we haven’t been able to pinpoint anyone at the moment,” Ford said.
Anyone with any information about the shooting should call NPD at 601-445-5565 or Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
Crime Stoppers offers a reward up to $1,000 for the arrest and conviction of a suspect because of a tip. Callers can remain anonymous.
