NATCHEZ — Police are searching for a teenager who reportedly robbed a North Pearl Street resident at gunpoint Sept 22.
Natchez Detective Jerry Ford said the resident reportedly went to his rental property in the area of 700 N. Pearl St. and was approached by what the resident described as a 17-19-year-old male wearing a white shirt and khakis.
The teenager reportedly pointed a gun at the resident, demanded money and threatened to shoot him, Ford said.
The resident, Ford said, reportedly told the teenager he did not have any money, and the teenager fled.
The responding officer listed the offense as a simple assault by fear on the original police report, but Ford said the offense has been changed to an attempted robbery.
Ford said the police department does not have any suspects in the case, but he said he suspects the robber is a local high school student.
Anyone with any information about the robbery should call NPD at 601-445-5565 or Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
Crime Stoppers offers a reward up to $1,000 for the arrest and conviction of a suspect because of a tip. Callers can remain anonymous.
