NATCHEZ – Services for Mr. Vernon R. Goodman, Jr., 40, of Walker, La., who died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999 at Summit Hospital in Baton Rouge, La., will be at 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Virgil V. Harris officiating.

Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 12 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Goodman was born Aug. 5, 1959 in Natchez, the son of Vernon Rudolph Goodman, Sr. and Sadie Mae Harris Goodman.

Mr. Goodman was preceded in death by his father and step-father, John H. Bryant.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia F. Goodman of Walker, La.; daughter, Theresa Mae Goodman of Walker, La.; mother, Sadie M. Bryant of Natchez; sister, Gail Fickinson of Walker, La.; brothjers, Herman Goodman of Natchez and Roy Goodman of Zachary, La.; maternal grandfather, Herman Harris of Winnsboro, La.; step sister, Sue Newman of Arlington, Va.; step brothers, John Bryant of Nashville, Tenn., Rick Bryant of Birmingham, Ala., Jack Bryant of Natchez, and Luther Marling of Vidalia, La.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Givens, Barry Givens, Buddy Givens, Eddie Gillespie, Mickey Gillespie, Danny Davis, James Harris, and Jack Bryant.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Dickinson, Johnny Curran, and James Nolan.
