It flooded Thursday night in Gulfport, one night prior to the Admirals welcoming Natchez High to Milner Stadium.
The floodgates opened again Friday as Gulfport whalloped Natchez 61-0.
&uot;We just had a rough night,&uot;&160;said Natchez High head football coach Elbert &uot;Mo&uot; Lyles. &uot;It was a long night. But we’re not out of anything.&uot;
Natchez fell to 1-1 after defeating Jefferson County in its opener.
The win was the first for Gulfport, which lost to Laurel in its opener.
&uot;We didn’t make as many mistakes this week as we made last week,&uot; said Gulfport coach Ronnie Cuevas. ‘We had six fumbles and a punt blocked against Laurel.&uot;
Natchez had trouble hanging onto the football Friday night.
Kevin Bradford led the Bulldogs with 23 yards rushing. Roderick Conner added 19.
Donald Butler completed 6 of 20 passes for 58 yards.
&uot;We thought we could stop them,&uot;&160;Cuevas said.
&uot;We didn’t think their offense was explosive. We thought their defense was better than they showed tonight. They tried to blitz a lot and when we blocked we were able to find a crack and there was nobody there to stop it.&uot;
Natchez hosts Vicksburg next Friday.
