Eudie Smith Cubit
July 1, 1909 – Sept. 12, 1999
BROOKHAVEN – Services for Eudie Smith Cubit, 90, of Brookhaven, who died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tyler Chapel.
Burial will be in the Carver Heights Cemetery in Brookhaven under the direction of Tyler Funeral Home.
Visitation is from noon until 7 p.m. with a wake from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cubit was born July 1, 1909, the daughter of Anderson Smith and Adrianna Smith.
She was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church of Brookhaven.
Mrs. Cubit was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Russell Cubit.
Survivors include two sons, Leander Cubit of White Plains, NY, and Ernest Cubit of Natchez; one sister, Augusteen Pierce of Fayette; two daughters-in-law, Marie Cubit of White Plains, Texas and Carolyn Cubit of Natchez; five grandchildren, Leander Cubit Jr., Deborah Cubit, Cynthia Owonka, all of San Diego, Thomas Chisum of Miama and Ernest William Cubit of Houston.
Delvru John Anthony Minor
June 23, 1969 – Sept. 12, 1999
Services for Delvru John Anthony Minor, 30, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, in McCall Creek, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church with Pastor Joe W. Pickett officiating.
Burial will be in the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Minor was born June 23, 1969, in Natchez, the son of Horace Stewart and Rosie Lee Stewart.
He was a graduate of South Natchez High and attended Co-Lin Jr. College. He was a graduate of Jones Jr. College of Ellisville and the Miss. Highway Safety Patrol Academy of Pearl. He was employed with the Miss. Highway Safety Patrol and a member of Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church, Sunday School and Bible Class. He was also in the Army National Reserve from 1991 to present and 386th Transportation.
Mr. Minor was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Theodore &uot;Collie&uot; Minor and Pearlie Stewart and grandmother, Nancy Stewart.
Survivors include one daughter, Danalycia Minor of Hattiesburg; his wife, Deidra W. Minor of Hattiesburg; his mother, Rosie Lee Stewart of Natchez; father and stepmother, Horace and Kathleen Stewart of Monroe, La.; three brothers, Dexter Minor of Natchez, Derick and his wife Ericka Minor of Hattiesburg and Emmit Snell of Natchez; two sisters, Orshay Stewart and Resa Stewart of Monroe; grandmother, Laura Minor of Natchez; one mother-in-law, Hattie Stanton of Natchez; and a number of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be 386th Transportation Co., Honor Guard, Miss. Highway Safety Patrol.

Elaine Hickombottom Salaam

Services for Elaine Hickombottom Salaam, 42, of Natchez, who died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at George F. West Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Bartley officiating.
Burial will be in the National Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Salaam was born July 22, 1957, in Natchez, the daughter of Elijah and Delcena Hickombottom.
She attended Alcorn State University and was a former asst. teacher at the Natchez Public School System. She was Methodist.
Survivors include her husband, Muhammad A. Salaam; one daughter, Tangela Hickombottom; one granddaughter, Jermia Hickombottom; three brothers, James Hickombottom, Oliver Hickombottom and Charles Hickombottom, all of Detroit; four aunts, Lucille Spates of Detroit, Temple Hickombottom of Chicago, Annie Lewis of Biloxi and Leola Hickombottom of New York; one uncle, Percy Hickombottom of Chicago; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be members of the Class of 1975.
Lydia Mae Buckles
Feb. 16, 1911 – Sept. 14, 1999
Services for Lydia Mae Buckles, 88, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Johnson and the Rev. Steve Purvis officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Buckles was born Feb. 16, 1911, in Dyersburg, Tenn., the daughter of John and Callie Brumley.
She was a member of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church.
Mrs. Buckles was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Buckles; son, John E. Buckles; and grandson, Roger Wayne Ford.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Verda Buckles, Donald and Norma Gene Buckles of Baton Rouge, La. and Aubrey L. and Elsie Buckles, Bennie E. and Bobby Buckles of Natchez; three daughters and sons-in-law, Eula Lee and L.C. Allen of Natchez, Alice Fairbanks of Kilgore, Texas, Doris and Chester Tarver of Ferriday, La.; 31 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Patsy Freeman

Services for Patsy Freeman, 60, of Monterey, La., who died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, La., will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Jones officiating.
Burial will be in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Freeman was born Nov. 6, 1938, in Brookhaven, the daughter of Percy and Myrtle Johnson Adams.
She was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church in Brookhaven.
Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby S. Freeman and a son, Timothy Keith Freeman.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby C. and Sandra Freeman of Austin, Texas and David R. Freeman of Vidalia, La.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Mike Dittman of Monterey; two sisters, Lurlene Soverns of Tallulah, La. and Marilyn Rogers of Pine Bluff, Ark.; five grandchildren, Brandon Kyle and Timothy Keith Freeman of Lafayette, La., Jerry Donald Frutiger of Shelbyville, Tenn., Brian Patrick Freeman and Kaitlyn Breann Freeman, both of Vidalia.
Pallbearers will be family members.
