Frances Cone Dale
March 4, 1918 – Sept. 24, 1999
VIDALIA, La. – Services for Frances Cone Dale, 81, of Vidalia, who died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999 at her residence, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father John Paul Kunnumpuram officiating.
Burial will be at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Dale was born March 4, 1918 in Montrose, Ark., to Ernest Brevard Cone and Molly B. Cone.
She graduated from Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia, Ark., with a degree in education. She majored in English with a minor in piano. She taught elementary school in Ferriday from 1940 through 1945, and she also taught piano for a number of years.
She was a homemaker and active in her community despite being stricken with polio in 1952. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she was active in the Altar Society and choir. She was a past chairman of the Concordia Parish Cancer Society and chairman of the Concordia Parish Heart Association.
She volunteered more than 3,000 hours as a Pink Lady at Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Vidalia Garden Club and Pilgrimage Garden Club and was a member of the Ladies’ Bridge Club at the Panola Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carol Dale Baldwin; one brother, William B. Cone; and one sister, Ernestine Cone Ham.
Survivors include her husband, John Dale III; one son, John Dale IV; one daughter and her husband, Catherine Dale Lusk and James E. Lusk of Shreveport, La.; one son-in-law, Fred B. Baldwin of New Orleans; one daughter-in-law, Marcia Ellis Dale; 10 grandchildren, Lara Dale Griffiths (Roy) of Swindon, England, Peter John Dale, John Hunter Dale, Emily Claire Dale, a student at Southern Methodist University, Bryan E. Lusk, a student at Wake Forest University, Stephanie Frances Lusk, a student at Appalachian State University, Jeffrey Lusk of Shreveport, La., Lesley Baldwin Adams (Pierre) of New Orleans, Katherine Folwell Baldwin of New Orleans and Elizabeth Brenchley Baldwin of Shreveport; two great-grandchildren, Kris John Griffiths and Lesley Ann Griffiths, both of Swindon, England; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Peter John Dale, Bryan Lusk, John Hunter Dale, Jeffery Dale Lusk, Pierre Adams, Richard Andrew Campbell Jr., Wilton R. Dale Jr., and Michael Reddick Reeves.
Honorary pallbearers will be Percy Rountree, Doc Taunton, Wilton R. Dale Sr., Logan Sewell, Billy Clyde Falkenheiner, Sidney Murray, Dr. George Moss, Wedon Smith, Bobby Lowe, John B. Fudickar Sr., Travis Gore, Dr. Iley Dillon and Dr. John White.
Memorial may be sent to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidalia or to the charity of the giver’s choice.

FERRIDAY, La. – Funeral arranagements for Alice Banks, 63, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at Riverland Medical Center, are incomplete at Davis and Jones Mortuary.
Tommy Lloyd Jr.
Aug. 10, 1933 – Sept. 24, 1999
FERRIDAY, La. – Services for Tommy Lloyd Jr., 66, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at his mother’s residence, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Dr. Eugene Williams officiating.
Burial will be at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Lloyd was born Aug. 10, 1933, in Ferriday to Tommy Lloyd Sr. and Ethel Jordan Lloyd.
He was a retired coach and educator with the Concordia Parish School System for 34 years. He was a graduate of Sevier Rosenthal High School and of Southern University with a degree in education.
He was president of the J.K. Haynes Foundation and an active member of LaSalle Community Action, the Concordia Civic and Industrial Association and the Henry Montgomery Foundation.
He also worked with youth activities for the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Department and helped organize the first summer recreational program in Concordia Parish.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Lloyd Sr.
Survivors included his mother, Ethel J. Lloyd of Ferriday; one son and his wife, Tommy Lloyd III and Stephanie Lloyd of Baton Rouge, La.; four daughters, Wanda F. Carter, Shunda Lloyd and Tiffany Lloyd, all of Ferriday, and Carla Lloyd of California; one stepdaughter and her husband, Nichelle and Ralph Payne of Natchez; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two aunts, Mayor Odeal J. Montgomery of Ferriday and Berdie Mae Hines of New Orleans; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Conner, Mack Moore, Howard Jackson, Arijo Ray Green, Bob Morales and Cleve Payne.
